Former Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.

The Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

One senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

List of Offences

Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police are urging anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
