Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the United States has remained silent. Airspace Engagements Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace. In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region. Iran's Declared Retaliation Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday. That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government. The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles". "Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued. The statement noted debris fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian. The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
