Seamer Gus Atkinson Adds to the English team's Fitness Concerns.

'Major setback' for the touring side as Atkinson goes off due to a hamstring issue.

Gus Atkinson added to the fitness woes of the England squad when he left the ground on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

The pace bowler felt a problem in his left hamstring post-delivery of the fourth over during the morning session.

Team management stated the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and would spend time on the sidelines to undergo evaluation "in the coming hours".

The series decider of the tour at the SCG gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.

The English side has previously lost strike bowlers one seamer to a knee injury and another paceman to a side strain during this series.

Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as injury reinforcement.

His form was underwhelming early in the series, managing only three wickets.

He was left out from the previous Test, then recalled for the Boxing Day match in the playing XI.

Surrey's Atkinson improved at the MCG, bagging two scalps with the ball, before adding 28 while batting as one of just three teammates to get into double digits.

Following a brief spell at the end of day one, he resumed the next day and removed Scott Boland taken by the wicketkeeper.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of his spell, he delivered a variation to the batsman and immediately felt at his leg.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the Boxing Day Test after being left out of the third.
