🔗 Share this article The Game UN:Me: A Psychological Thriller That Blends Survival Horror with Social Deduction Gameplay The recent Day of the Devs digital showcase revealed a number of intriguing future games, but one especially has seized attention: UN:Me. Created by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player experience appears to blend the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill game with the suspicion-driven core of Among Us. "It's a unique game where a young woman containing several human souls within her must escape from a labyrinth of the mind," explains producer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Shattered Mind In UN:Me, players assume the role of an unnamed female protagonist who appears to be of high school age. Within her reside four distinct souls, each with unique anxieties and motivations. These entities can seize control at will, releasing their deep-seated terrors upon her suddenly. Judging by revealed gameplay, much of the action takes place within a eerie medical facility, though other scenes depict the main character navigating a abandoned church. An Environment of Personal Dread "What are you afraid of? What makes you uneasy?" poses creative lead Shun Sasaki. "High places. Confined spaces. People in power. Elements that seem trivial to others can trigger a deep instinct within us. This game delves into that concept — fears that are unique to each person." The core gameplay loop revolves around controlling the persona that surfaces at any given time. However, these souls will switch against your will as you play. While exploring, each soul's anxieties become exaggerated and assault the girl one after another. As the persona shifts, so does the specific fear the player encounters. Eerie Aesthetics and a Deadly Decision Initially, UN:Me shares noticeable aesthetic parallels with the Silent Hill franchise. The hospital is populated by nurses all sporting the same face, with unnervingly wide grins. Figures in the lobby have enormous blooms growing from their necks are. Flowers are an ever-present element, contrasting natural beauty with unnatural horror. Yet, UN:Me presents a singular mechanic. Players must determine which of the four souls haunting the heroine is the "true" one. "Each of the souls asserts that the body is rightfully them," notes a creator. "Throughout the game, you must determine who is real." After a player have deduced a soul is fake, they are forced to destroy it. But, since each soul can lie or obfuscate the truth, it is incredibly simple to choose incorrectly. "Maybe you've already destroyed the real [soul] by your own actions," a voice suggests. "The final entity standing could be a fraud. Either way, your choices are irreversible." UN:Me does not yet have a publicly announced release date, but it is can be follow on digital storefronts.
