This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Backlash Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration. The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services. It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance. Size Classification Changes Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. User Accounts One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated. Manual Updates Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said. Marketplace Information The app has more than 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK. It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
